Happy skin, sad skin, frustrated skin, stressed skin…How is your skin feeling?

Happy skin, sad skin, frustrated skin, stressed skin…How is your skin feeling?

So when you think of skin, what exactly do you think of? Dry? Oily? Combination? Well we like to think of it as emotional skin. Basically some days you’re happy, sad, tired, frustrated...It’s time to start thinking of your skin this way!

You see for some reason we think of our imperfections as flaws but it’s just a way of expressing your feelings. That’s the way your skin feels when it’s under certain conditions. The beauty about it is that it’s perfectly normal for it to occur because it’s what makes you human. Stop thinking about your skin as only having one feeling or condition and begin to think of it as emotional.   When you’re sad, happy, stressed or frustrated you do something to get back better and your skin can react the same way!

If you consume healthy and nutritious foods along with a lot of water then your skin will be “HAPPY”. Of course this includes cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturizing.

However, reality is that we really don’t do this every single day especially when there’s a holiday or celebration. Your skin reacts a lot to what you eat and drink. But that’s where skincare comes into play. Skin care is your assistant for your “cheat days” or “hormonal days”.

For example, if you don’t drink a lot of water then you know your skin needs some serious hydration and moisturizer. We call this the SAD skin because it’s sad it didn’t get what it wanted.

If your skin was exposed to harsh winter conditions, it’s all dried out and needs a heavy moisturizer. We think of this as “FRUSTRATED” skin. It’s fighting off the extreme weather conditions yet its so frustrating dealing with it.

If your skin is breaking out we call this the "STRESSED" skin. Your skin might be reacting to your diet, hormones, or anything that can literally be stressful to you. When your skin is stressed it’s begging you for all you got which involves cleansing, toning, exfoliating, moisturizing and relaxing aka “masking”.

It’s time to start thinking of your skin emotionally.
